Out Of My Mind

I thought a lot
about what you said
about what you meant

if you came along
in another time
I still would’ve seen you
still would’ve loved you
but the time was wrong
oh, the time was wrong

will you come again
in another life
will you grace my world
with your smile
will it mean as much
as it does now?

and I hurt so bad
but it’s not the end of me this time
this time
this time

can’t get you out of my mind
why can’t I get you out of my mind
can I get you out of my mind
oh, my mind
out of my…..
can I get you out of my mind (x3)
been waiting too long
can I get you out of my mind
been waiting too long
waiting too long

life without you doesn’t mean a thing
doesn’t mean a thing

get out of my head
get out of my head
get out of my head

I’m not alone
I’m not alone

Grenadine

you’ve seen it all before
from different lenses
and you’ve given up on love
one more time
can you see the pile of tinder
rising
can you feel the fire
at your feet

looking up, you
never fear the fall

lift your eyes back to the ground
beyond your stride
feel the pulse push deep inside
deep inside
can you jump the river
to the sea
can you carve the path that leads
back to me

looking up, you
don’t feel at all

coloured shades of greens
tearing at the seams
will it pull you apart again
grenadine

can you jump the buildings
to the hills
will you ever tire
of all the pills

coloured shades of greens
sweeter than it seems
will it pull you apart again
grenadine

coloured shades of greens
tearing at the seams
will it pull you apart love
grenadine

Conscious (April 2007)

I haven’t seen this before
shared among common fields
I could almost feel myself move
asleep on the ground, twice already
patience awoke me with presence
well I should say friends
and open faces showed me something
I can’t be alone too long
I miss the smile the most
having said what was right
I turn away not to see the consequence
since it’s not horrendous
I feel faint
and must lie down again

Fourflight

twice I watched my number pass
felt the crumbles of the blast
siphoned, mirrored, filed away
sickening by this light of day
parachutes of older grace
pick me up, cradle my face
I’m dying by the light of mourn
repelling with the scent of scorn
a patient man has never seen
the light of me, the plight of me
so sit still while I peck into
my scorching hands, Beautiful Blue
words that letters really ought
not touch the pearls that teach you naught
have wrung my hands into a knot
and teach me what shouldn’t be taught

Harbour

if you ask me I will tell
the story of my chance
sentences strung as one
beautiful words taking turns
to paint the scene
of immortal love

if you ask me I won’t hide
won’t push the thoughts aside
you’ve always been light
ever since the first
and I sense till the end
oh to be there, with love

if you ask me I will say
truth to you, one
do you know I’ve been there?
just ask and I will say
like a stem grows each day
to hold its beauty high in the air

yes, love, I’ve been there
I have seen what I should not
and I didn’t want to return
but you — yes, you frighten
I could swear on my life
you take my breath away

love, have you been there?
I want to change your mind
I want to show it could be
love, I beg you to tell me
someday you’ll join me there
