Informal Disaster

bold lies
of life intersected
a pretty impression, worn out and connected

tall tales
they crumble when eaten
their taste an astringent, unlikely to sweeten

bald truth
your yearning’s not normal
a city disaster no more, just informal

lame duck
adrift in the crosshairs
continues to swim, anywhere, unawares

Where Are You, My Peaceful Mind

Where are you, my peaceful mind?
you call on me, from time to time
you make me question what is mine
through fields of corn, and city grime

where are you, my active mind?
you dart, you dash, you intertwine
my habits, as I’m so inclined
but choices, hardly worth my time

where are you, my precious mind?
to what decree are you assigned?
to what degree are you aligned?
and are these questions really mine?

Turnout

I read I looked
I saw what I liked
I said I did
I see what I like
and if you say
it’s not for the best
I have to claim
the best I can get

as you cheer for free speech
you’re drowning me out
as you inform to teach
the bias is out
in yearning for what’s right
you’ve silenced what’s mine
you wanted this, got this,
now respect till next time

Concrete Cloud Creation

the sky is orange and blue and steam rising
geometric tops slice the tapestry
slowly, slowly
and above all, the place where all is down

if silence holds more meaning than good timing
why, anyone could build the trees
blowing, blowing
and after all, the violent meeting drowns

gosh she moves in all the wrong squares
holding and drifting by
must admire how little she cares
catching another’s eye

When the Sky Falls Down (song)

I posted this song I wrote a while ago, but then hid it….. when I looked for it recently, it had lost its online presence, so here I am posting it again probably a year or so later 🙂  I hope you enjoy it.

Lyrics:

Lookin’ out at the stormy sky
I thought of you and who you used to be
Lookin’ out, I thought I’d spy
a hint of truth but no blue can be seen

When the sky falls down around us
When the sky falls down
When the sky falls down around us
Down around, down around

Workin’ out the miles to go
Not far from the raining pain of where you are
working out the flies below
wing speed all delayed to keep up with you, Sir

and when the sky falls down around
we’ll be the eye of the storm
when the sky falls down around
we’ll be the eye of the storm

Complicated if you don’t even know
the simple truth, 37 show
and though it’s clear as day here
thought it’s clear as day

Complicated, you don’t even know
the simple truth in a one-man show
it’s clear, as day here, but I know
you’re still in dark

still in dark

looking out at the stormy sky
I thought of you and who you came to be
looking out, I thought I’d spy
a way to you but truth is, hard to eat
not so sweet, as memory
not so sweet, as memory
not so sweet, as memory
not so sweet

If You Asked

a couple days ago
I fought a bear and lost
I didn’t think it mattered
but it mattered to you

a few days ago
I lost a piece of mind
I might get it back
or just pass it to you

if you asked where I came from
I could tell you the Earth
I could tell you the truth
and make you believe me

if you asked where I’m going
I could tell you the world
the highest and lowest places
and ask you come with me

a couple days ago
I sought out a bear
I thought it mattered
because it mattered to you

a couple days ago
I fought on a dare

if you asked where I was going
I’d tell you somewhere
somewhere where the angels can find me

if you asked me if I’m happy
I could show you the Earth
I could show you the truth
and you would believe me

when you look behind you
you see only hills
you don’t see all the valleys between
when the only time you
give me the chills
it’s not worth all the love lost between

if you asked where I’m going
I could tell you the world
the highest and lowest places
and ask you come with me

if you asked where I was going
I’d tell you somewhere
somewhere where the angels can find me

Newcomer

I caught you
and like a triumphant angler
looked around to see if I
was alone in my find

.

your eyes shifted
saw those around you, processed
with a feeling mind
.
there was no wall
there was fear and light
and I wanted to reach out my hand and say,
“Welcome
.
Where are you from? Where are you going?
Have you been here long?”
and I’d offer to help
.
my lips move in silence
as I tell you to be strong
be patient with the changes
not all will seem good
stay friendly if you can
not everyone knows it
good jobs will pay
for work not time
so be wary of those
who ask for both
and always smile at the one
with curious eyes
.
where there’s no wall
just fear and light
reach out your hand and say,
“Welcome”
.
.
.
.
