Don’t Look Down

.

.

.

it’s masochistic
the way I’m a-
attracted to you
but I can’t seem
to help it
.
and I know
you’re waiting
for the weekend
and it’s coming
too soon
.
don’t look down
you might see me
finding shelter
below your
threshold
.
don’t look down
all the words they
scatter through me
I speak but it
it gets old
.
it’s quite artistic
all the swirls and
all the curlycues
for sure it’s
not you
.
and I know
you don’t mean to
make me so subdued
.
but here we are
.
so don’t look down
you might see all the
roofs of buildings
below your
threshold
.
don’t look down
you might see all the-
all the endings
to stories
yet untold
.
don’t look down
I’ve been soaring
just fine, thanks
and this, well it
it gets old
.
don’t look down
I only wanted to
lend a helping voice
how dare I
be so bold?
.
